3. Red layer.
a. In a large saucepan, melt 1 tbsp butter over low heat.
b. Add 3 1/3 cups marshmallows and stir until melted.
c. Stir in a few drops of red gel food coloring until the desired shade is reached.
d. Add 2 cups Rice Krispies and mix until evenly coated.
e. Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
4. White layer.
a. Wipe the saucepan clean, then melt 1 tbsp butter over low heat.
b. Add 3 1/3 cups marshmallows and stir until melted.
c. Stir in vanilla extract.
d. Add 2 cups Rice Krispies and mix until coated.
e. Gently press over the red layer.
5. Blue layer.
a. Wipe the saucepan clean, then melt remaining 1 tbsp butter over low heat.
b. Add remaining marshmallows and stir until melted.
c. Stir in a few drops of blue gel food coloring.
d. Add remaining 2 cups Rice Krispies and mix until coated.
e. Gently press over the white layer.
6. Decorate and set.
If desired, sprinkle the top with red, white, and blue sprinkles while still slightly warm.
7. Cool and serve.
Allow treats to cool and set for at least 1 hour. Lift from the pan using the parchment, slice into squares, and serve.
